Cant believe people getting so wrapped up in shit. Id rather take an acid bath! I was at a TV show recording some 12 years ago. Where they told us that a women by the name Polly Jean wold perform. My girlfriend at the time just loved PJ Harvey, little did I understand that they where the same person. Maybe that's why she left me LOL. I'd heard Adele's songs before on the radio and stuff, so for me she's nothing new.
But PJ Harvey! A worthy winner.. Sheela na Gig.. PJ Harvey is making music that is politically engaged. She is one of the few doing so these days. Whether or not that deserves some prize is for me beside the point so if you like prizes just for the sake of them, yes, Adele should have won I think they were called The Rolling Stones or something RoyalSlaughter Ain't that just the attitude that causes problems in the world?

Hahahaha i love reading comments on this video such as "i though she was some cool upcoming new artist" or "she's a wannabe" Go get musically educated, PJ's a true artist, just try listening to "Good Fortune" and you'll see you probably knew it and liked it but didn't know it was hers.
I love Adele, i was listening to 21 about an hour ago, but she's nothing new I can see PJ as the next Patti Smith, playing on for ages till she dies and always coming up with good stuff. Trying so hard to like her, but she just comes across as a fake to me. For example, why does she sing in that pseudo-American accent? Fully appreciate the technical quality demonstrated, but the overall effect for me is bland. The emotions are not engaged. Adele is kiscking ass on the charts for a reason, she's the best.
So just deal with it. Why do haters spend their time to show how stupid they are? Come on, just read her lyrics, you don't even have to listen to her to understand she's a genius, Adele's great of course, but PJ is a queen. PJ Harvey isn't someone you listen to just once before making up your mind. Many of her songs take several listens before they either click with you or otherwise. This studio version of LES is not the greatest.

I just said that I didn't think her music is particularly new or interesting. I do think she is a good singer , but there's loads of people who have come on youtube to check out P J for the first time ,and then slag her off after a 20 second listen.
The Mercury Prize is awarded for musical artistry, not popularity, not quality of voice. PJ Harvey is an artist, not just a singer. I haven't heard this album but know from her back catalogue that she is a diverse and musically interesting performer Good on the Mercury lot for continuing to champion intelligence and artistry. Oh god , I'm sick of listening to people saying Adele was robbed. P J Harvey began before Adele was even born ,and is one of the most influential and original artists of the generation.
Sightless accusations could be made about Harvey giving a condescending eye with macro-political pamphlets. In turn, Harvey speaks in the point of view of an Englishwoman who is distressed with the vague tactical policies that have defined her native land.
