Can you switch sides in the old republic

So from my point of view what could look feasible: Ingame community: You switch, you lose your old Guild, friends etc. You start "fresh" in the new faction. You can't read general chat of your old faction anymore etc. Obviously huge warning sign ingame required. This would give your decision also game play wise weight. Your old capital you can still visit, story wise it's at an earlier state.

Alternatively can cut access to old capital altogether - might be easier. Old faction specific content and Heroics won't be able to Group up anymore with your old faction though.

Only challenge if future content would lead you back to old planets - the Dev Team might need to use a different approach then. Flashpoints: Players would do the versions of their new factions as they are also game play wise part of the new community.

Revan Arc, Tython, Korriban the voice acting is obviously missing. I hope the community would be forgivable though if the Developers will take shortcuts, even if it's immersion breaking.

Like having no voice but subtitles instead etc. Armor appearances: Presumably this is tied to your class, it would remain as your old faction. With all the adaptive armor sets etc there are enough cosmetic options out there if you really desire to make your Jedi look like a Dark Sith Lord etc. PVP: I don't see any issues - you are part of your new faction now. Your former blue icon is now red and vise versa. Anything that I overlook? If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

The "saboteur" thing in Onslaught is a real bummer. They might as well not have added it at all. SteveTheCynic Quote: Originally Posted by Balamb.

Something you find difficult is a lesson on how to play better, not a punishment for playing badly. To go to Belsavis, you must go to Belsavis. Wow does something like this for cross faction PvP and in the new raid.

All this said, I suspect it would be a fair amount of work on the engine side, but conceptually it would be a clean solution. By just letting the voice lines and looks change they don't need to try to make each class work as their mirror class.

Folks hotbars and abilities would be the same. Their would need to be some suspension of disbelief when an Inquisitor threw rocks, for example, but the Sith are weird and the galaxy is a big place. I suppose that would work from a technical point of view For all of WoW's strengths, when it comes to things like RPG aspects and immersion, saying "WoW did this" is pretty much the opposite of a recommendation.

Oh, I agree it is a clunky solution, but I was trying to find something that might be easier for them to do than actually swap folks to their mirror classes. That's the pain of making any cross-faction stuff work in the faction-specific flashpoints. Wow has it much easier with the classes not being faction specific. All this said, the easiest thing to do is not allow cross faction in the faction instances and just do it for the others.

I think cross faction ops can definitely work maybe not on all but most of them. It would be a welcome change for me and I suspect many others. The only way I can see it happening is if they make it GF only this means you dont have to mess around with premades and getting around that.
