With a little searching, I found a list of possible websites at CreativeCommons. Just a quick note. When you play in SC site all is converted to mp3 Kbps for bandwidth reasons. In other words, the same file you uploaded.
Just be sure to allow the download I don't know what is the default. Sad but true: Streams sound lousy no matter how high the quality of your upload is, but any download will be full quality. At least SC is up front about it. Thank you so much for all your kind replies. I thought of Google Drive, but if I understand correctly, you cannot hear the song by streaming it like Soundcloud. So Soundcloud is still more convenient.
Think of Soundcloud as AM radio thru dashboard car speakers. If fidelity is important, Soundcloud just isn't an option for that. Some formats, apparently, do not get converted as well as others.
